Figura sitoFrom May 20th to 22nd, 2015 within a larger event, RomArché (this year at its 6th edition), promoted by Dià Cultura Foundation, will take place the 3rd edition of the meeting “Anthropology and archaeology at comparison” dedicated to the topic of Archaeology and Anthropology of Death.

École française de Rome, at Piazza Navona, and Stadio di Domiziano

The meeting includes 4 thematic sessions and a panel discussion structured as follows:

1. The rule of exception: atypical death, atypical deceased, atypical ritual

2. The poetics of emotions: performance and ritual landscape

3. The social life cycle of bodies and things: reconstruct and rethink the ritual and social reality with material engagement, enchainment and actor network theory

4. The construction of identit[y/ies] after death: between thanato-metamorphosisand anthropo-pòiesis

5. Panel discussion: the social dimension of funerary practices[?]

.

For each session as well as for the panel discussion can be presented (peremptorily until March 20th, 2015) a speech proposal. For the speakers are not provided registration fees and the organization shall not pay for any refunds.

Accepted languages are Italian, English and French.

The Roman Archaeology Conference is the premier Roman archeological conference, originally based in the UK, but now alternately held in the UK and abroad. In 2014 it was hosted by the University of Reading, UK. Our aim is to bring together interested parties from all sectors to present and discuss the latest archaeological discoveries form the Roman world and beyond.

Archaeological surveys between Middle Ages and Post Middle Ages” (Sciacca, Burgio, Ribera, 28-30 March 2011). The initiative is promoted by the Superintendence of Agrigento, directed by Caterina Greco, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Ribera and the Municipality of Ribera.

Exhibition: A (divine) symposium of#wine. The Salinas at Sambuca

Untitled-1On 12 February at 17.00 will be opened at Sambuca di Sicilia (AG), at the Archaeological Museum of Palazzo Panitteri, the exhibition “A symposium # wine. The Salinas at Sambuca”. The exhibition, showing for the first time the funerary equipment found in 1886 in Monte Adranone, in the so-called Tomb of the Queen, is organized by the Regional Archaeological Museum “Antonino Salinas” in Palermo, the Superintendence of Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Agrigento, the Municipality of Sambuca. The Cooperative Credit Bank of Sambuca which sponsored the exhibition, which will remain open until June 12, 2015.
