Conference: Living in Late Antique Mediterranean

The three-day Conference, organized by of CISEM (Inter-University Research Centre on Late Antique Housing in the Mediterranean, will be dedicated to discuss general topics about Late Antique housing, with an insight on specific contexts. The attention will be focused on regional peculiarities in the Mediterranean. These peculiarities will be analysed by scholars of the relevant fields through wide-ranging speeches introducing each session. On March 5, a session on the domus of via D’Azeglio in Ravenna will be organized.

On the morning of February 5, at the Archaeological Museum “Antonio Salinas” in Palermo, the Councillor for Cultural Heritage, Prof. Carlo Vermiglio, and the Director of the Salinas Museum, Francesca Spatafora, will dedicate the new hall of the Phoenician sarcophagi of Cannnita to Khaled al Asaad, the archaeologist and curator of the archaeological site of Palmyra (Syria), brutally murdered by ISIS terrorists obn August 18, 2015.
